Fenerbahçe & Kalamış: Marina Life by the Marmara
South of Kadıköy's centre, the coast curves into Kalamış bay and the green peninsula of Fenerbahçe — home to a leafy island park, a 19th-century lighthouse and Turkey's largest marina. It is where Istanbul's Asian side comes to sail, jog and watch the sun set over the Princes' Islands.

An island park and a historic lighthouse
Fenerbahçe Park sits on a small peninsula reached by a short bridge, one of the largest green spaces on Istanbul's Anatolian side. Walking and cycling paths wind past picnic tables, a playground and seaside cafés, all looking out toward the Marmara Sea and the Princes' Islands.
The name itself means 'lighthouse garden' — 'fener' (lighthouse) and 'bahçe' (garden). At the tip of the cape stands the Fenerbahçe Lighthouse, a 20-metre cylindrical tower built in 1857 and protected as national heritage, together with its old keeper's house.
Kalamış: marina, sailing and football
Just north, Kalamış bay holds the Kalamış & Fenerbahçe Marina, the biggest marina in Turkey. Its waterfront is lined with restaurants and cafés, and it is a hub for sailing and yachting — Kalamış has long been the home of Istanbul's competitive sailing scene.
This whole quarter is football country: Fenerbahçe S.K., one of Turkey's giant clubs, takes its name from the peninsula, and match days fill the surrounding streets with yellow-and-navy.

How to get to Fenerbahçe & Kalamış
From the European side, the nicest route is the ferry from Eminönü or Karaköy to Kadıköy (about 20–30 minutes, paid with Istanbulkart), then a 20–25 minute coastal walk south or a short taxi to Kalamış. Alternatively take the Marmaray under the Bosphorus from Sirkeci to Ayrılık Çeşmesi and change to the M4 metro. A door-to-door taxi from Sultanahmet runs roughly 450–600 TL in daytime traffic; or just ask us to arrange a transfer straight to the marina.
