The Kadıköy Bull Statue (Boğa Heykeli)
Every Kadıköy meetup starts the same way: "Boğa'da buluşalım" — let's meet at the Bull. The bronze bull at Altıyol is the Asian side's unofficial center of gravity, and its story starts not in Istanbul, but in 19th-century Paris.

From Paris to the Bosphorus: the Bull's strange journey
The bull was cast in Paris in 1864 by the French sculptor Isidore Bonheur, one of the era's most celebrated animal sculptors. It is said to have changed hands as a war trophy — passing through German hands after 1870 and arriving in Istanbul in the early 20th century, in the years around the First World War.
In Istanbul it kept moving: it stood at the Beylerbeyi Palace gardens, then at Lütfi Kırdar's request in front of the Hilton, and spent years in the courtyard of the Tarım Bakanlığı buildings before finally settling at Kadıköy's Altıyol junction in 1987. It hasn't moved since — and Kadıköy wouldn't allow it to.
Why locals love it
Altıyol means "six roads", and the Bull stands exactly where they meet. It's the natural rendezvous before a Fenerbahçe match (the stadium is a 15-minute walk), before a night out on Kadife Sokak, or before a long Sunday breakfast in Moda. On derby days the statue disappears under yellow-and-navy flags.

How to get to the Bull Statue
From the European side, take any ferry to Kadıköy (Eminönü, Karaköy or Beşiktaş — about 20 minutes) and walk up Söğütlüçeşme Caddesi for 8–10 minutes. By Marmaray or metro, Ayrılık Çeşmesi and Kadıköy stations are both within a 10-minute walk. A taxi from Sultanahmet runs about 450–600 TL daytime.
