How to Get from Istanbul Airport (IST) to Kadıköy

Option 1: Private transfer — the easiest way home
After a long flight, the last thing you want is to drag bags across two metro changes. A pre-booked transfer meets you at arrivals, tracks your flight in case you land late, and drives you straight to your door in Kadıköy for a price agreed in advance — usually 1.500–1.900 TL. For night arrivals, when public transport thins out, this is the option we'd choose every time.
Option 2: Havaist bus to Kadıköy
Havaist runs a direct line from Istanbul Airport to Kadıköy — look for the HVIST-14 sign. It costs around 250 TL and is comfortable, but it crosses the entire city, so plan on two hours or more depending on traffic, plus waiting time between departures. It's a solid budget choice in daylight with manageable luggage.
Option 3: M11 metro + Marmaray
The cheapest way across: take the M11 metro from the airport to Gayrettepe, change to the M2, then connect to the Marmaray under the Bosphorus and get off at Ayrılık Çeşmesi, a short hop from Kadıköy. Around 60 TL with an Istanbulkart — but allow well over two hours and expect stairs, escalators and a couple of changes with your suitcases.
Option 4: Metered taxi
A yellow taxi will make the whole crossing, but because it's the longest run in the city, the meter — plus the bridge toll — climbs to 1.500–2.000 TL by day and around 50% more at night. It's only worth it over a pre-booked transfer if you genuinely can't plan ahead. Always insist the meter runs from the airport rank; the fare to Kadıköy is never a flat foreign-currency figure.
